AquiWeb.

Astrée Software has built AquiWeb in France since 2011 and reports it on more than 400 industrial sites, used every day by over 21,000 people across 18 countries. It is nine packaged modules and six applications, all of it in the browser with nothing installed on the client. You turn on what you need and configure it. There is far less to construct than on an enterprise platform, and correspondingly less you can bend.

WHERE IT FITS

When the standard thing is the right thing.

Most plants we walk into do not have an exotic process. They have a normal process, measured badly, on paper. That is the case AquiWeb is built for, and building a bespoke platform to solve it would be a waste of your money and eighteen months of your time.

Nothing to install

A 100% web architecture. Any machine on the network reaches it through a browser — panel PC at the workstation, tablet on the floor, phone off-site. No client rollout, no desktop image to maintain.

Start with one module

Begin with OEE and machine times. Add quality, then traceability, then whatever comes next. Each module extends the same data model, so nothing is thrown away when scope grows.

Built around the operator

Touchscreen entry, barcode scanning, visual dashboards. Astrée's own positioning is simplicity and ergonomics for the person at the machine, and in our experience that claim survives contact with a real shop floor.

Collection that does not touch the PLC

OPC UA where the machines are modern, Ethernet I/O, IIoT modules and AS-i bus where they are not. Non-intrusive on the equipment, which matters when nobody wants to reopen a validated machine programme.

What each one actually does.

Astrée licenses AquiWeb by module. Most of our clients start with Aquitime, and roughly half of them never need more than three of the nine.

Aquitime

PRODUCTION MONITORING

Machine times, operator times and production order progress. Equipment data acquired over IIoT and OPC UA; manual entry from PCs and tablets where there is nothing to read. Equipment states and process parameters, direct and indirect operator hours, order management and activities.

OEE and overall equipment performance calculated to the AFNOR NF E 60-182 definitions, with a Pareto of non-performance causes and period-by-period dashboards. Which definition of OEE you are using turns out to matter enormously the first time two plants compare numbers.

Aquiqual

QUALITY

Inspection plans defined and configured against references, production orders, workstations and areas, with inspection frequency, sample size and criticality levels set per check. Multi-plan and multi-order handling, visual alerts on non-compliance, and an interface with drawings, documents and video where an instruction needs showing rather than describing.

SPC control charts with Cp, Cpk and Cpm; measurement instruments connected over USB, RS232, OPC UA or file drop; and a configurable non-conformance workflow that can be raised manually or triggered automatically.

Aquimaint

MAINTENANCE

Preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment and tooling, with the periodic plan driven by actual production rather than the calendar. Work launched around production windows, operations declared with their documentation attached, and procedures guided through Aquiguide.

Pareto, MTBF, MTTR and OEE generated automatically. On the operator side, a visual alarm on the machine dashboard when self-maintenance is due, simplified declaration, and a maintenance call by email.

Aquiordo

SCHEDULING

Planning that takes ERP requirements, work in progress and preventive maintenance into the same view. Automatic optimisation under configurable constraints, drag-and-drop adjustment on a Gantt chart, and workload assessed against actual human resource capacity.

Simulation of opening times, placement rules and the impact of maintenance delays. Orders imported and exported against ERP on a defined cycle, with unplanned orders visible and advances or delays flagged before they become a customer conversation.

Aquidoc

DOCUMENTATION

Electronic document management for the shop floor. Drawings, work orders, tooling sheets and procedures available at the station, split between static documentation attached to a workstation and dynamic documentation that follows the current order, control or machine state.

Version management is the point. The operator sees the current revision because there is no other revision to see.

Aquiguide

GUIDED OPERATING MODES

Step-by-step instructions with a direct link between the current step and the documentation page for it. Manual or automatic validation at each step, timestamped against the operator and the action, and batch entry checked against what was expected.

Printers driven for labels and records, and data acquired from the equipment itself to validate a step. The history of executed procedures also shows where the same operator error keeps recurring, which is usually a training problem rather than a discipline problem.

Aquitraça

TRACEABILITY

Batch and serial identification created and recorded, with labels printed for RFID, direct marking or barcode, and consistency checked against the bill of materials. Documentation displayed for each operation as it runs.

Genealogy captures batch, component, raw material, quantity, operator, equipment and incidents. Search by batch, production order or person, upstream and downstream — which is the search you make at eight in the evening when a customer calls.

Aquistock

FLOWS & STOCK

Receipt orders and lines pulled from ERP, with the person and place of receipt traced, conformity checked through Aquiqual, batches broken down into handling units, and units labelled and assigned to locations.

Real-time stock by location, movement history, customer shipments and supplier returns. Shortage alerts can be triggered back into the ERP rather than discovered at the line.

Aquiénergie

ENERGY PERFORMANCE

Water and electricity consumption acquired in real time by machine, cell, zone or workshop, then correlated with what was actually produced. Energy efficiency ratio, energy intensity and energy performance rate derived from the pair.

Alerts on consumption drift relative to the process, which frequently surfaces a mechanical problem before the maintenance system does. Structured for the PDCA cycle an ISO 50001 energy management system asks for.

SIX APPLICATIONS

The same system, six ways in.

The modules decide what the system does. These decide who sees it, and they are worth thinking about early — a plant that only ever deploys the operator screen tends to get an operator's view of its own performance.

Aquiweb Production

The operator application at the workstation, with or without a touchscreen. Barcode entry, visual dashboards, and the machine's own state in front of the person running it.

Aquiweb Manager

A no-code web portal for building dashboards and analyses. Widget library, multi-axis analysis, choice of indicator, representation and period, and comparison between them.

Aquiweb-Plantdata

Dynamic large-screen display for the workshop — the thing a SIM or AIC meeting stands in front of at the start of a shift.

Aquiweb App

A smartphone application for managers, for watching production in real time when they are not on site.

MyAquiweb

Astrée's user community space and online academy. Genuinely useful if you intend to run the configuration yourself rather than call us every time.

ARCHITECTURE

How it hangs together.

Equipment feeds a collection layer, the collection layer feeds a communications server, and everything above that is a browser. The reason this matters commercially is that there is no client-side deployment to budget for, and no desktop estate to keep in step with the server.

AquiWeb deployment topology: machines, utilities and measuring instruments feed a data-collection layer of OPC UA, Ethernet input-output, IIoT modules and AS-i bus; that feeds a communications server and web server running on-premises or AWS-hosted, exchanging orders and confirmations with ERP; operator panel PCs, tablets, workshop screens and the manager smartphone app all reach it through a browser.

DEPLOYMENT & LICENSING

What your CFO will ask.

On-premises or hosted

Run it on your own server, or take Astrée's AWS-hosted option with supply, administration and maintenance of the infrastructure included — no server to buy.

Cloud specifics

Replicated database across sites, an SLA attached, and scaling for performance and capacity without a service interruption. Transparent to the end user, who sees the same browser page either way.

Buy or subscribe

Perpetual licence or subscription. Subscription limits the up-front investment, folds the cost of upgrades in, and commits you for twelve months rather than five years.

Hardware at the station

Panel PC with touchscreen, barcode reader, label printer, Android tablet. Standard industrial kit, sourced locally.

Astrée Software.

Founded in 2011, based in Saint-Étienne with offices in Nantes, Toulouse, Rennes and Metz. Around 130 people, roughly 80% of them engineers. It describes itself as the only French publisher dedicated entirely to MES, and it reports putting 30% to 40% of turnover back into R&D each year. Revenue was €9.3M in 2023, up about 30% on the year before. It joined the 4CAD Group in February 2024.

In 2023 the Alliance Industrie du Futur awarded it the Vitrine Industrie du Futur label. Astrée reports a customer satisfaction rate of 94% from its most recent survey.

ONE THING TO BE HONEST ABOUT

If your process genuinely does not fit the module, AquiWeb will not bend far enough, and pushing it there produces a worse result than choosing the other platform in the first place. That is the single question worth resolving before anyone signs anything, and it is what the selector and the diagnostic are for.
