A Success Story of Production Management at Bush Brothers & Company Powered by TrakSYS
The Bush family company started over 100 years ago in Tennessee. As a canning company, they focused primarily on canning fruits and vegetables to meet the market demand of the roaring 20's. In 1952, everything changed when the company began producing "table ready" products. With the development of Bush's secret family recipe baked beans, Bush Brothers quickly became the largest provider of canned beans in the world.
Already producing more than 55 million pounds of beans annually, Bush Brothers needed to find a way to optimize their operation to meet increasing customer demand. Working with Parsec, Bush Brothers set out to implement a TrakSYS solution that would help them do just that.
Challenges:
Heavily paper-based operations.
Disparate implementations.
Lack of real-time data.
Minimal visibility into root causes of production downtimes.
Goals:
Monitor equipment downtime.
Limit process variability.
Create E-records.
Elevate quality.
Increase compliance with HACCP.
Digitize task management.
Provide real-time metrics for equipment performance.
Help enforce Kaizen principles.
Optimize the use of existing assets.
Enable predictive maintenance.
Solution:
When designing their TrakSYS rollout, Bush Brothers and Parsec determined that a phased rollout, with a goal of implementing TrakSYS solutions throughout the entire factory, was the best approach.
The integrated architecture would provide Bush Brothers unprecedented, comprehensive real-time visibility into their manufacturing processes.
The big picture would see TrakSYS integrate with the existing ERP system (for planning and scheduling), SCADA system (for production data), and plant historian (to monitor SPC).
Operator workstations would be strategically installed to promote fluency and engagement.
TrakSYS Main Features:
Performance Management.
E-Records.
Electronic Log Books.
Quality Management.
Regulatory Compliance.
Production Scheduling.
Production Management.
Task Management.
